I would say that goods or services are not exchanged for other goods services. We are like minded adults that are friends first and foremost. Just saying we know in other fleet concentration areas there are literally 100s of couples we know of. I would say that of 5 vanilla couples there is 1 "nonvanilla" couple. Just saying, google that word and John McCain and see what comes up lol..

Proably because everyone has their own oppinions and beliefs and not everyone shares the same belief system and may look down on the individuals that pratice the "lifestyle" and judge them because of it. 

I personally could care less, what you do with whoever in that area of your life is none of my business.

I'm not trying to pass judgement I'm just trying to understand. I met a fellow once (Kuwaiti) that had two wives, they both lived in the same house. He said it worked out fine.

Seems like this type of behavior could easily fall under Article 134 of the UCMJ if certain members of the leadership caught wind of it and had issues with it.

(1) That the accused wrongfully had sexual intercourse with a certain person;

(2) That, at the time, the accused or the other person was married to someone else; and

(3) That, under the circumstances, the conduct of the accused was to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces or was of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces.

Explanation.

(1) Nature of offense. Adultery is clearly unacceptable conduct, and it reflects adversely on the service record of the military member.

(2) Conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline or of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces. To constitute an offense under the UCMJ, the adulterous conduct must either be directly prejudicial to good order and discipline or service discrediting. Adulterous conduct that is directly prejudicial includes conduct that has an obvious, and measurably divisive effect on unit or organization discipline, morale, or cohesion, or is clearly detrimental to the authority or stature of or respect toward a servicemember. Adultery may also be service discrediting, even though the conduct is only indirectly or remotely prejudicial to good order and discipline. Discredit means to injure the reputation of the armed forces and includes adulterous conduct that has a tendency, because of its open or notorious nature, to bring the service into disrepute, make it subject to public ridicule, or lower it in public esteem. While adulterous conduct that is private and discreet in nature may not be service discrediting by this standard, under the circumstances, it may be determined to be conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline. Commanders should consider all relevant circumstances, including but not limited to the following factors, when determining whether adulterous acts are prejudicial to good order and discipline or are of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces:

(a) The accused's marital status, military rank, grade, or position;

(b) The co-actor's marital status, military rank, grade, and position, or relationship to the armed forces;

(c) The military status of the accused's spouse or the spouse of co-actor, or their relationship to the armed forces;

(d) The impact, if any, of the adulterous relationship on the ability of the accused, the co-actor, or the spouse of either to perform their duties in support of the armed forces;

(e) The misuse, if any, of government time and resources to facilitate the commission of the conduct;

(f) Whether the conduct persisted despite counseling or orders to desist; the flagrancy of the conduct, such as whether any notoriety ensued; and whether the adulterous act was accompanied by other violations of the UCMJ;

(g) The negative impact of the conduct on the units or organizations of the accused, the co-actor or the spouse of either of them, such as a detrimental effect on unit or organization morale, teamwork, and efficiency;

(h) Whether the accused or co-actor was legally separated; and

(i) Whether the adulterous misconduct involves an ongoing or recent relationship or is remote in time.

Thank goodness for sea lawyers or I wouldnt have been aware of what the UCMJ says. However, what we are talking about is not adultery and not illegal. Thank you for your sage advice though

After giving that hypothesis some serious consideration I can clearly see that you are most likely correct because that would make perfect sense as to why it would be so important to only communicate about those activities behind the public view using PM's, it must be popular 20% of your Navy's doing it already.

That's fairly clandestine behavior, pets and shopping that is.

I'm going to start looking for chalk marks on benches and light poles next time I'm in your area to see if I can track down this elusive pet ring and then notify the Koancho.

I can see why you are bumping this topic back on top, as I was driving the other day on the moral high ground I didn't see any swingers there either perhaps there isn't quite as many as you suggest.

John, I see that people may feel this is inappropriate, but all he is doing is asking. There are no explicit conversations taking place.

I understand that some may find this disgusting, or illegal if they are active duty with the article 134 information above, but whats to say this person is not a civilian or a contractor? Is that illegal as well?

I think what happens behind peoples closed bedroom doors is their business. If they can keep it private and still enjoy the things that make them happy than so be it.

I am not going to dictate how people live their lives. As long as the discussions stay to a minimum, and people contact via other methods/private emails, or private messages, than I dont see the real problem.

You would be surprised if you saw all the dirty word searching that goes on with JB. People look for prostitutes, whores, hookers in yokosuka, massage parlors giving xxxx...

So to think that our members are all saints wrong.

But like I said, whatever makes people happy.

Whats going to happen when a gay person starts recruiting for a gay barbeque, or lesbian beach party..  Are people going to get freaked out about that also?  I am sure its coming in the next few years.  People are still getting used to the military accepting the latest "Dont ask Dont Tell" policy..

I was actually very good friends with his wife, and they were having marital "problems". Among those problems were his stocking fetish. She just couldn't handle it. He used to steal her tights
