hi I wanna ask if anyone has a personal experience of getting married in the US thru Visa Waiver Program with their american fiancee's and know what the requirements are in the US for you to be able to get married. And if so after you came back to Japan were you able to get a military dependent card right away or do you have to be command sponsored to get the ID card, ill appreciate your answers guys. Thank you.

first off, it depends on your nationality and HIS state for the different requirements. for example, to get married in alabama to a japanese national, all that is needed is his military i.d., your passport, and 43.95 for the marraige certificate. have him look up the rules for his state. and you will get a base i.d. no matter what once you get married and he turns in the proper paperwork to his admin at his duty station.

Thank you so much nonameneeded. He is from nj and I look it up but says nothing about foreign nationals. But it only requires passport to be able to get married and the fee. Thanks again. Coz we already have a daughter and isnt command sponsored so I thought you have to be command sponsored in order to get an I.d card.

I thought being command sponsored was a matter of the command paying for you to go overseas with your husband.... I thought as long as you are on his page 2, you can get an ID. I think the form is DD1172 that he has to have filled out for you. My DH filled one out for me while he was in San Diego (I was in Tx) and after 24 hrs, I was in the system and could enrol myself and my DS into Tricare. Also I was able to register myself to shop on the Exchanges website. Thats a for sure way you know you are in the system. If you can register to shop the Exchange online, you are in the system to get an ID card. Now if your DH is not with you, you have to have that DD1172 filled out by him, and someone else in his command, or you need a POA. Its really easy, And when you get your ID, try to make an appt, or you will be there all.day.long like me and my DS were.
