I was just watching the Japanese news, and they had video of the post office that was just robbed a few days ago.

I didnt catch where it happened,  but the culprit was 1 guy, and only had a knife.  He held up the post office, and got away with 40,000,000 yen, which is equivalent to about $500,000.

Japanese need to start having armed guards.  The fact someone can go into a bank with a knife, and get away is beyond me.

I fully understand, knifes are dangerous, but as we have learned from 9/11, I doubt someone would attempt a knife only attack on an airplane again.  People would jump and risk their lives to stop this madness.

Japanese are a little different though.  We live in a country where police cannot strike without being striked.

American police officers would shoot you dead, after 2 warnings if you held a knife up to them.

Not really cost effective (and I think 100% wrong solution).

How many post offices are in Japan? A guard at each  one would be an extra 4M yen a year per office. If there are 1,500 post offices that's a cost of 6 billion yen a year. And I bet the cost per guard and total number of post offices are both higher.
