Camp Shields Remembering September 11, 2001

150 Sailors gathered at Camp Shields for morning colors and pay respect to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

Following Colors, the memorial continued in the Crows Nest Club in an event organized by the Chief Petty Officer Selectees and the Fleet Activities Okinawa Navy Heritage Committee.

Following a wreath-laying and reading of the rolls of Sailors, Marines, Airmen and Soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice since the induction season began, Fleet Activities Okinawa Commander, Captain Rich ‘Stormy’ Weathers shared his first-hand experience from his time in the Pentagon on that day.

The American flag will fly at half-mast to honor those who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Leisure close to Camp Shields

I'm looking to visit my young sailor stationed at Camp Shields around the end of this year. Any suggestions on where I should stay? Any Navy lodge (or similar) in the area?
I've neer been to Japan with the exception of passing through the commercial airport.

Anyone live here?
